Multimeter Breakout
Multimeter Breakout
Quickly run through dozens or hundreds of parts when you're sorting your parts or hunting for precise value matches.
After trudging through a few projects recently which required very precisely value-matched components and fumbling with hook grips and test leads across a hundred or more parts, I realized there needs to be a better, faster way to quickly test and sort.
So I designed this little jig to 'break-out' the test leads of just about any multimeter into an ergonomic, speed testing configuration. Just drop any axial part into the component seat and flop the pressure hinge down to shore up the contact.
Connections to your multimeter can be made with standard banana plugs, hook / alligator grip, or pin header leads.
There is also a pair of sockets in the component seat area which can accept radial leads. Further, if you've got a batch of parts with a lead structure that doesn't lend itself to the component seat nor the radial sockets, you can bend up your own seat shape from some solid core wire and insert this custom seat into the radial sockets.
In short, this jig should speed things up a lot if you find yourself needing to sort through a large number of parts. For me this has proven very helpful not only for precision value matching, but also for quickly sorting heaps of unsorted, hand-me-down components.
! NOTE ! Although it is not pictured in the included-parts images, the kit version which contains parts will also include an ~8" piece of 14 AWG solid copper wire for you to bend your own component seat as well as the two 2-pin SIP machined sockets.
