Trim Buddy
Trim Buddy
!HEADS UP! You may want to add some of these 3-pin JST-to-pin-header cable assemblies to your order
Just like the Pot Buddy, but for 3296 style trimpots.
It's another handy little tool to help you study, test, and experiment with a little more ease.
I wanted a way to read a situated trimpot's values without having to work around a precarious jungle of already placed jumpers and parts just to rip it out of my breadboard. This little helper tool does just that.
One side provides access for your multimeter (via hook/alligator grips, pin jumper wire, or JST PH) and the other side provides access to the trimpot pins (via the same types of connectors). A 3PDT switch toggles which side is connected to the trimpot.
I employed the optional JST connection at the top of the board in case you wanted to connect a sturdy, a semi-permanent set of leads, like the JST PH to 2.54mm pin jumper cable assembly I offer here. You could also crimp your own cable assembly with whatever style connectors you choose. Or just stick to the standard 2.54mm pin jumpers using the onboard sockets and ignore all this JST stuff.
The big draw, no matter how you connect it, is the ability to virtually cut out a trimpot by switching it 'out-of-circuit' to read it's resistances with absolutely no fuss.
